Welcome Back!

Welcome back students and staff!

The library will officially open for students Monday, September 13th. Passes will be distributed before 1st and 2nd block, during lunch and after school. Library slots fill up quickly, so come early to ensure a spot!

In an effort to "Go Green," the passes are laminated and numbered and will be reused. Too much paper was wasted last year! Students will be required to sign their name when they receive a pass and sign again upon arrival. As always, students will remain in their study hall, advisement or activity block for the first 10 minutes.

New books will start arriving in the next few months, so be sure to check out the "Great New Books," display. Keep on the look out for the new magazine display that should be arriving soon featuring new titles such as Wired, Teen Vogue, PC World, GamePro, People En Espanol and more!

The Twitter Book Club will continue! If you are interested see Ms. Regan for details. Twitter book club participants had a blast at the Teen Book Fest in Rochester last year, and I am hoping to do it again this year. Coe Booth, Laurie Halse Anderson, Matt de la Pena, Simone Elkeles were just a few of the many authors that attended the event. Students got a chance to chat with them and get books signed. I had the opportunity to have my picture taken with Coe Booth, author of Tyrell and Kendra, and Matt de la Pena, author of We Were Here and Mexican Whiteboy.

Matt de la Pena

We have Coe Booth and Matt de la Pena's books in the Corcoran Library. To check them out, all you need is your student ID card. For Simone Elkeles' Perfect Chemistry fans, I've ordered the sequel, Rules of Attraction. It should be arriving soon!

If there is a book or books that you don't see in the library that you think students would read, please let me know. I always welcome suggestions. Remember, this is your library.

Until next time...

Ms. Regan
